Watchdog: No rise in mobile svc prices amid massive remote work

MOSCOW, Mar 25 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service did not reveal a rise in the price of communication services after the population switched to remote work due to coronavirus, although the load on the communication network increased by 20%, the service said on Wednesday.

“According to the analysis of data and information from the largest telecom operators providing access to the Internet, it was found that during the second decade of March the growth in the load on the communication network amounted to an average of 20%. It was mainly due to an increase in viewing video services. As of March 24, 2020 (Tuesday), price growth was not recorded,” the watchdog said.

The watchdog expects that the load will increase by an average of 20–40% in the next 10 days, while no increase in prices is expected.
